Diamonds & Dudes - September 23, 2011

"The event of the season" was held once again at the spectacular Pier Top of the Hyatt Pier Sixty-Six hotel. With the guests arriving in droves, the paparazzi snapped away; perfectly chilled Champagne and luscious treats were offered to all. The sounds of vocalist Kimona filled the air, this party had begun. The 150 guests dined on a scrumptious multi-course dinner paired with fine wines as the interesting program began.

Howard Dvorkin, Bill Feinberg, James D. Franskousky, and Dr. Carlos Jurado were the gentlemen being honored. Their philanthropic deeds have made a huge difference to the lives of women and children in our community and they so deserve this honor. Brenda Franco served as Honorary Chair for the 2nd Annual event, "Diamonds & Dudes". Speaking for the organization, Founder, Kelly Cappola and President, Marion Applegate introduced the men being honored; Wish Ambassador, Jane Vicale touched on the needs of the women that have been helped. Joel Connable of Travel TV News acted as emcee for the evening and delighted the audience with his quick wit and warm spirit.

Kickin & Sippin - Boston Chapter - October 1, 2010

The Boston chapter of Women and Wishes  hosted  "Kickin & Sippin"  at The Nahant Country Club and presented "The Classmates" on October 1, 2010 from 7pm till midnight.

 

The Mad Hatters Tea - September 25th, 2010

Most Creative, Best Vintage, Most Whimsical and Divine Diva Best of Show were the categories that describe the parade of hats that were seen at the Women and Wishes’ 2nd Annual Tea themed “The Mad Hatters”. The Tea was held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Hyatt Pier 66, Panorama Room and had over 110 people in attendance.

Guests enjoyed an entertaining, fun packed afternoon with a fashion show by Mario Pucci and Lil’ Miss Diva. Everyone delighted in the tantalizing, unique buffet of candies created by Prestige Sweet Creations and seemed especially pleased to be there to help raise funds for Women & Wishes. The unique touch that Ana Vento, Event Coordinator from Events by Vento Designs, made this event “An Affair to Remember”.

“Our events blend crucial support and awareness for Women and Wishes, with a fun experience that also brings together our community,” said Kelly Cappola, Founder of Women and Wishes. “This year’s Tea was a fantastic success with lots of extras! We would like to thank everyone for attending and supporting us with special appreciation to our honorary chairs Patti Morse and Erica Morse. See you all next year!”

 

Boston Tea Party on the Island- July 1, 2010

Women & Wishes goes Nationwide! Over 80 guests attended the "Boston Tea Party on the Island” held on the Island of Nahant, Massachusetts to benefit the Women & Wishes organization.

“Thanks to everyone who took part in the Silent Auction. With help from very generous bidders, we were able to raise enough money to get the Boston Chapter of Women & Wishes off to a great start!”

During the auction guests enjoyed champagne and fruited iced teas. The guests were then escorted to a very glamorous tea party and an informative program introducing Women & Wishes. A Butterfly Tree was planted at Nahant Country Club to commemorate the beginning of the Boston Chapter. We are excited that Beverley Dawson of The Nahant County Club has agreed to be the sponsor of all of Women & Wishes events in the North Shore area of Boston.

After several years of assisting women in the Broward and Palm Beach counties of Florida, the organization briefly expanded to the Northeastern United States. "It is all about women helping women, we can make a difference" says Beverley Dawson. Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances,  the Boston Chapter is no longer active. With that said, we truly thank all the volunteers and board that made a difference to women and children in that area of the United States.

 

Diamonds & Dudes – May 14, 2010

What a great party, what fun I had, and what a great evening it was; just some of the comments heard as the crowd said their goodnights.

“Diamonds & Dudes,” the signature event, honored men in the community that have made a difference to the lives of women and children. Scott Brook, Paul Keefe, David Maymon and Bradley Minto were the gentlemen chosen and honored by Women & Wishes. The event was held at the panoramic Pier Top of the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The room was set spectacularly as crystals glistening against the panoramic backdrop of the city.  Guests were treated to delicious passed appetizers’ accompanied with flowing libations. The gathering of the 140 guests enjoyed an evening of fun and entertainment. The guests had the pleasure of dining on sumptuous foods as the anticipated program began. Amara Sohn, anchor and reporter for NBC 6 News acted as program emcee and introduced Kelly Cappola, Founder, who spoke on behalf of Women & Wishes. She introduced the gentleman being honored and spoke of their service to the community over the years. All of the honorees received personalized gifts commemorating the evening.

Meet the Press -April 26, 2010

The venue for the upcoming May event, “Diamonds and Dudes” was the elegant Hyatt Regency Pier 66, and the honorees of the event were asked to join us there for our social. Numerous passed mouth-watering hot hors d’oeuvres, outstanding service and an open bar were a delight to everyone as they enjoyed the sounds of DJ, Lee Mc Laughin. The social welcomed over 40 guests; allowing us the opportunity to personally meet the honorees. Ana Vento introduced the gentlemen and spoke of their service to the community. Upon introduction, Kelly Cappola, Founder and Marion Applegate, President were presented with a check in the amount of $1000.00 from Tasha Hirsch of T&T Marketing, LLC. The jewelry designs of “Sparkle of Life” by Dawn Demarco-Book were displayed and available for purchase; generously, a percentage of the sales went to the causes. The guest were treated to a free raffle boasting numerous grand gifts that included earnings by Sparkle of Life, Moet Champagne, Fine Wines and a gift basket from Starbucks.

Tune in Tuesday- March 23, 2010

The newly opened Yolo restaurant on Las Olas was host to the March social. An evening of fun and tunes as the name suggests. The restaurant welcomed the 70 guests treating them to delicious appetizers’ and drinks in the Yolo fashion. The fun continued with our version of the game “Name that Tune” and like the show, winner takes the prize. Our raffle winners took home exceptional gifts including; Morton Steak House gift certificate, a bracelet from Jewels of the Kabbalah, a salon gift certificate, Arbonne Gift Basket and a Yolo gift certificate.

Valentine Social- Feb. 10, 2010

The Valentine social held at the stunning Zed 451 restaurant in Boca Raton boasted a great evening. The event welcomed over 50 guests. The restaurant supplied unlimited delectable appetizers'presented with the Zed fashion and flare, accompanied by delicious authentic Sangria.The event showcased the artwork of the talented Don Casey, a portion of the proceeds going to the cause. Holiday Party- Dec. 16, 2009

Kit Schulman opened her spectacular home for our Holiday Extravaganza. Over 75 guests attended the evening as well as donating holiday toys for deserving local children. The home was adorned for the holiday and possessed a feeling of being in wonderland. The guests were treated to holiday favorites of numerous exceptional finger foods, lavish desserts and a luscious punch. “Kalyn's Kustom Designs Jewelry and Accessories” showcased their wares, allowing guests to pick up that last minute holiday gift. A portion of the sales were given to Women & Wishes.

Boat Parade- Dec. 13, 2009

Jennifer and Greg Wentworch opened their beautiful waterfront home in Pompano Beach to Women & Wishes for the third annual Holiday Boat Parade Party. The home lavishly decorated marked the start of the Christmas season. A Wine and Martini Bar proved to be a favorite of the 100 guests as it was located directly on the waters edge. Numerous passed hors d’oeuvres started the evening that culminated with dinner served under the stars as the decorated boats glided by. Once the parade was over, the guests hit the dance floor to the sounds of the incomparable Bobby Pruitt as the night continued.The raffle, a great hit, as it boasted gifts that included a multiple restaurant gift basket, golf lessons and a club, and massage gift baskets and jewelry. All the raffle items were valued well over $100.00 each.

Thanksgiving- Nov. 18, 2009

The beautiful home of one of our board members was the venue for the Thanksgiving social. On this evening, Women & Wishes presented Thanksgiving Baskets and gift certificates to six chosen families. This proved to be very moving ceremony, as the recipients’ were overwhelmed by this generosity. As the “potluck” of family favorites adorned the kitchen and dinning room all in attendance felt a feeling of fervent gratitude.

Monthly Social- Oct. 21, 2009

The Grape Merchant in The Promenade at Coconut Creek was our host. This social greeted over 30 guests in this comfortable and interesting establishment. Our guests sipped on wines of different origins as they tasted various cheeses and assorted appetizers’ that complemented their wine selections. A very heart moving testimonial was given by a wish recipient, as all in attendance sat in silence.  The raffle consisted of luxurious spa packages and beauty treatments valued at well over $150 each.

Tropical Tea - September 26, 2009

The first signature event, Women & Wishes “Tropical Tea”, was held at the striking W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The 250 guests were served chilled champagne as local firemen, supporting the cause, offered guests raffle tickets. Sipping champagne and perusing the very impressive silent auction items proved an exciting hour as guests envisioned their winnings. Upon entering the main room, guests saw majestically set tables adorned with exotic centerpieces and glistening butterflies, creating a magical tropical sensation. Boxed gifts and over flowing gift bags awaited the entering guests. With the impending wait staff perfectly positioned, the guests began dinning. The menu consisted of scrumptious tea sandwiches, cold soups, incredible dessert selections and an endless selection of tropical teas.The program included emotional testimonials by two Women & Wishes wish recipients and a heart-warming message by Mindy Frumkes-Baer, special guest speaker.

From the live, silent and Chinese auctions, as well as contributions and fundraising efforts, the event generated nearly $50,000.00 as reported to Black Tie-South Florida“…This will be instrumental in facilitating our efforts to fulfill and grant many wishes to a whole lot of middle income women in desperate need of temporary assistance this year…” said Kelly Cappola, Founder of Women & Wishes.
